The Rich Kids - Shape Of Things To Come (1978)

Raw, pure energy at it's finest. Never released as a studio version, I came across this epic song from a band ouf the UK. I did some digging and the original bass player that was replaced by Sid Vicious, Glen Matlock. Also a member is none other than Midge Ure from Ultravox. There was a holy grail of punk rock music that was made for me that became the soundtrack of what was to become part of my younger brother and myself lives. If I was to create another, this song would be on it.

The Undertones - Teenage Kicks (1979)

Another song from another band from Ireland that set the bar for what other songs are measured. It's raw, gritty, imperfect and emotional. It's innocence in nature is what makes this a true punk classic. A punk version of Manfred Mann's Doo Wah Diddy Diddy if you want a comparison. This song moved John Peel to tears....allegdely.

The Stiffs - Nothing To Lose - 1980

Ican't say I have heard this one, but familiar with the band. The staccato punch part of the songs makes this great. The stiffs are a very under appreciated Punk Band for the late 70s early 80s. Definitely a must listen to tune.

X - Los Angeles (1980)

For me, Punk Rock doesn't get any better than this. This entire album is a masterpeice. I had the priledge to see X perform in Milwaukee at The Starship in 1981. X is both iconic, and legenday, and to see them in a small imitimate club on North 5th street. We were no more than 5 feet away. They played two nights and we went to both of them.

The Dead Boys - I Need Lunch (1977)

I did have a very small group of friends, three of them, that were also unaccepted in the high school cliques. I wasn't allowed to play sports, and wasn't about to smoke weed with the 'freaks'. But I did love music, and in the late 70s, our escape was Punk Rock. Mike had an extensive imported vinyl collection that opened my ears to things I would have never found on my own. I had him make me a tape of songs I liked and that tape became infamously known as "THE TAPE". My young younger brother and I LOVED that tape. We still do to this day. This song was on it.

$27 Snap On Face – Heterodyne State Hospital (1977)

DISCOVERED
I am once again updating this blog. I have another that is similar but spans all years, and I started to come across releases that should be included on here. I just stumbled across this one going through the list of releases that I had not listened to yet. At first I was going to dismiss this, but stuck with it, and I am glad I did. This is very reminiscent of the band X. The garage type raw sound, and the haunting female harmonies, and also from California. Here is one of the tracks from this album that aurally includes the smiliarites to the band X.

The Flesh Eaters - No Questions Asked (1980)

MEMORY
Another one from THE TAPE! SWEET! I forgot about this song. Now I can listen to the rest of the album to see what other gems are on here. From the first few songs, there is only one on here worth any mention. Pony Dress and Agony Shorthand are the only potential songs that to me is listenable. I was really hoping for a little more here. There are some really brilliant moments of music here, but ruined by some over the top goofiness. So All in All, I am a little disappointed.

Delta 5 - Mind Your Own Business (1979)

DISCOVERED
This is only a single and that unfortunate. It very raw and that's what makes it great. Very typical of the late 70s Punk. This Female Fronted band from the UK is reminiscent of the B-52s.

Skids - Days in Europa (1979)

DISCOVERED
This definitely has many of the elements that I like for my late UK 70s punk. Raw, unpolished and anthemic. It is missing the anger and angst but this is some really good stuff. It can get a little New Wavish at times but this is Punk.

Plasmatics - Metal Priestess (1981)

MEMORY

This was a front to back listen that got played constantly. This was released after I saw her live in Milwaukee. I can honestly and truthfully  say I was there. I remember seeing the "Doom Song" on SCTC with Gil Fisher and thought how far Wendy had come to get musically credit for her work. And then on Solid Gold with Black Leather Monster. I wonder sometimes if she became what she hated.

This 4 pack of songs never hit my Punk Rock radar, nor do I recall it at Cutter's Basement.

Pack - The Pack (1978)

DISCOVERED

Late 70s Punk....Nothing like it...When it's done well, and this is done very well. This is a trio from Germany. It's raw, and simple...It's perfect.

Outcasts - Self Conscious Over You (1979)

DISCOVERED

There is something about the Belfast Punk bands that automatically makes them good. I'm not sure if it's the accent, their sound, or their musical influences.

Wayne County & the Electric Chairs - Blatantly Offensive (1978)

DISCOVERED
It's silly, aggressive and offensive, but there is some substance here, not much, but enough to put it on here. At first I thought there was a typo on my list of albums, but...apparently Wayne, is now Jayne.

Anti-Pasti - The Last Call (1981)

DISCOVERED

I do remember the band's name and that it was punk.Since this was way after the Cutter years, this wan't on my musical radar.  I was embracing the video musical explosion and taking in all I could. This release is awesome...This is the way I like my punk.

Generation X - Valley of the Dolls (1979)

MEMORY
One thing I can boas about is I knew about Billy Idol, before he was Billy Idol, we was William Broad, and he was a guitar player. All in all this is a mediocre album. King Rocker, is good, and  Night Of The Cadillacs. The other stuff just doesn't measure up.  Well, the featured song was on "THE TAPE", we knew it was on the tape, so it's not a Holy Shit! memory.

Public Image Ltd. - Metal Box (1979

MEMORY

The Metal box, now I hate experimental shit, but this is John Lydon of the Sex Pistols. To put this in perspective, you could play this in reverse, at half speed over the telephone and it's better than anything Joy Division recorded. The Iconic Metal Box itself is a pure memory.

Johnny Moped - Cycledelic (1978)

DISCOVERED
This definitely has all the ingredients of what I consider the Post Punk music to be. At times there is some variance to that but as a whole if I would have known of these guys they would have been on THE TAPE.

Zounds - The Curse of Zounds (1981)

DISCOVERED
Some of this isn't quite the Punk I would listen to but there is some good  stuff on here. It has the raw pureness and simplistic but some of the songs kinda drag on put nonetheless deserve a listen.
